AutoCAD 2006

Data Extraction using AutoCAD 2006.

  1. Select Tools > Attribute Extraction…
  2. Choose Create table or external file from scratch, then click Next.

  1. In the Data Source panel select Current drawing; then click Next.

  1. In the Blocks panel tick only the SIMITEMBLOCK option.
  2. In the Properties for checked blocks panel uncheck the Exclude General Properties option and tick only the following options:
    • Position X
    • Position Y
    • Position Z
    • Rotation
    • Layer
    • SIMITEMNAME
    • SIMITEMTYPE
    • SIMITEMTYPECONNECT

  1. Click Next.
  2. In the Extract attribute data to panel, select only External file.
  3. Name the external file ‘output.csv’ and save it in the directory of the original CAD file (this is optional, you can name it and save it as you like).

  1. Save the template as ‘Template.blk’ in the directory of the original CAD file so that the process can be repeated quickly and easily.

The model file is now ready to be imported into Sym3.
