The big new feature in this version of Sym3 is the introduction of “Version Control”. This feature, when enabled, will allow you to save all the history of modification in your project. Everytime you save, you will be asked to enter a comment and the project will be saved.
When you create a new project, you can activate ‘Version Control’ (Is it not enabled by default):
When you will save your project, you will be asked to enter a comment:
You can then see all the history and revert to a previous version. You can also compare between two versions.
In this history window, right-click on a version to save it or compare with another version:
Some options have been added, to force for example to enter a comment before saving (Not possible to save without a comment)
Please also note that you don’t need to open the project in Sym3 to see the history, in Windows Explorer, you can directly “Right-click > Sym3 Version History”
Please note that any existing project can benefit from this feature, you will just need to activate it (Click on Ribbon > Project > Version Control > History)
Behind the scene, Sym3 is using Git so it is very efficient and only the differences are saved between versions. Please expect the project size to increase a little bit. There’s currently no limit in the size of the history but in future versions we will add new functionalities like “Cleaning History”.
